    Question My cockatiel wont bathe?

Hi Ohlly my cockatiel doesnt like bathing.
ive tried misting him, puting him in a shallow dish of water, having him in the shower and by the tap.
Ino cockatiels are very dusty birds and should be misted or bathed at least 2xs a week but when ever i mist or anything to do with water he will just climb up to my shoulder or hop out of the dish or shuffle away from the sprayer.
Has anyone got any suggestions to try getting him to bath??

My Tiels are also not fans of bathing or getting misting. If I leave the water for them to bathe themselves it won't happen, so I will mist or bathe them myself. Some birds will bathe on there own whiles other don't like it and won't do it and then there are the ones that just hate it. If he really doesn't allow you to bathe him you can either keep at it and see if he will get used to it and end up liking it, or you might have to do what I do and bathe your tiel on your own. Good luck!

What I do I turn it somewhat into a game...I spray it into the air and let it fall like rain if they run I walk (never run) after them and mist them...Then when they run around then house I hide when I see them come I mist them (they travel together so it makes it easier) I think of it as tag or hide and seek...Either way they get time to run around and a bath and excercise they may not enjoy it but they will like it more than being dusty and sneezing alot so in the long run never give up they will thank you

While we are on the bathing subject( not meaning to thread jack, sorry), how often should they bathe?

    Just give them time.

    Re: My cockatiel wont bathe?

I found that when I let the tiel that hated showers watch the one that LOVED them...then he was more willing to shower....and now LOVES it too!
It really is monkey see monkey do with these guys sometimes,
Water temp has a lot to do with it too...my green cheek wants ice cold water (dunno why, but he will jump into his ice cold fresh water dish, and only bathes in the sink when the water's cold), but the tiels like my mister to have HOT water. I test it by misting myself so that it's not hot coming out of the mister, but just warm. If it's too cold, then they won't stand for a shower either.
