as long as it is not white bread, and human-fortified. If it is, just don't give him too much .

What you are doing is just fine. Give him his seed for an hour in the morning, and an hour in the evening, and have veggies in their throughout the day, replacing every 2 hours so they don't get spoilded .

    Re: ...

human fortified foods have vitamins and minerals added in quantities that are good for humans... Because birds need different ammounts of these, giving them too much human fortified stuff could cause them to overdose on some vitamins...

    I say..

Hm. I always thought that my budgie was hopeless with vegetables, when entirely he was not.
    It was just lacking shape.
My budgie for instance LOVES anything juicy. (Celery, cucumbers,)
Such things as carrots he does not relish.
But he will tolerate it if I give it to him in small sizes.
So instance, if you have a blender type thing. Pop a few vegetables like celery, cucumbers, bell peppers, and a few fruits like two grapes and a SMALL slice of apple and press chop. That will make it into small pieces which budgies love to nibble. (Mine anyways)
Hope this helps, and keep my posted! ^^
    Also, ITS ALL ABOUT VARIETY!
Budgie cannot live on seed alone.
