    Hello from the frozen north!

    Greetings from Canada, Tailfeathers community!

I recently added a new member to my family. It's still unknown if it's a baby boy or a baby girl, but this budgie is a cutie-patootie no doubt! Also unnamed as of yet.

I've only owned budgies once before and that time it was small group of them many years ago. This time around I brought home just one little guy with intentions of training him/her.

He/She has been at home with me for about a month now, but he/she is still terrified of me. I'm determined to be patient and take things slowly. I'm just not sure if there is some technique or strtagy that I am unaware of to gain this little baby's trust?? I've never trained a bird before and I'm trying to do it by just reading things on the internet... and I'm alittle lost.

    Welcome, Ewk.

I would start out by just making sure the baby is used to their home and feeling comfortable. I don't know anything about budgies, personally, since I only have a cockatiel, and even then, I just got him recently.

However, there is information that you could look at to help you.

This link will give you information about budgies:
    http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/b...on/budgies.php

And here is one containing information on taming:

Both are links to other parts of this site. You can find more information by clicking the Bird Information banner/tab that's at the top of the page. :3

Hi, Ewk! We are also in Edmonton. Glad it's warming up a bit but as anyone from the area knows it's going to get much colder!

Hi ewk. The key is patience. Just spend time sitting near the cage at a safe distance and spend time talking to the bird. Eventually it will understand that you aren't there to eat it and it will warm up to you.

Hmmm...Not a bad idea. Just name the time and the place of the free food and I'll be sure to show up!
