I love the idea of a red Budgie.
    Another head hangs lowly,
    Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
    Who are we mistaken?
    -----
    Another mother's breakin',
    Heart is taking over.
    When the vi'lence causes silence,
    We must be mistaken.

Aww what beautiful birds! I think that red budgies would be neat.. as long as they are healthy. How exactly do you make a new color? What will 'think pink' look like when she is older? An Albino with pink highlights? Very neat flock you got there! Are they all as tame as the lutinos?

Why do you think budgie mutations have been bastardized?

Seriously curious, by the way. Not trying to sound belittling.

Barry, don't leave just because one person disagrees with you. So you like mutations and strive to make new colours, as a budgie breeder you KNOW that is not a popular choice for all bird people. Some are for it some against. It is what makes the world go round. Differences.

What lovely creatures you have.I am in absolute Awe over your lovely think pink budgie.I believe as long as mutations are strived for while maintaining bird healthy and attention is closely paid then it causes no harm.I see the pink as yet another step to another variety and having some genetic information under my belt I too have strived for rarities and have accomplished it through attentiveness and hard work. I look forward to see what may come in the future from your aviary. I myself am very new in the bird world so it is unventured territory but I enjoyed your post and hope you continue to return.

I cannot understand why people who both own budgie but american and engish have differences.I like all the feathered one.

Ps.Barrie tis a single oppinion.Opinions are like ears we all have them

I respect Hehot as I respect you and hope the forum is for everyone

That's a very good question since red isn't exactly a naturally occurring mutation. Are these hybridized budgies? (Rosy Bourkes spring to mind.) Are you mapping the genetics and keep careful health records of the "new" mutation?

Yes Barrie, I have budgies...however, I have not tried to play God and breed them to create a mutation that has not existed before...and that in my opinion, is not much more than a genetic freak...

Jealousness...did you make that word up...Jealous of what Barrie...don't flatter yourself...it's unbecoming.

You flatter me Barrie, however you are incorrect...it is not MY forum. I am but just another member here...albeit one who is not impressed by your genetic manipulations...and if your way of dealing with someone who will not stroke your ego, is to turn tail and run away...so be it...

Peter, sometimes addressing people a bit more politely wouldn't hurt. He shared some pictures, that was all; disagreeing with it is fine, but being snappy is unlikely to produce much positive feedback/discussion. At the same time, Barrie, Peter's first reply simply stated that he disagreed with you and so replying rudely was a bit uncalled for. Disagreements are of course always welcome, but please let's try to be able to discuss things politely.
