I don't think your cockatiel will help tame your lovebirds. It's not a case of "monkey see, monkey do" since they're not the same species.

    Re: taming cockatiel

It certainly didn't help me when I had five parakeets with my first cockatiel, who was tame when I got the parakeets. Those parakeets were nasty lil buggers, and they never did become tame. Then again, the fact that we had five together probably didn't help them become tame.

Have you tried separating the lovebirds, then taming them individually? I was always told that taming more than one at the same time, in the same cage (or even room, for that matter) makes things harder. That's why when I got my second cockatiel, who I wanted to be a companion for my first, I tamed him away from my first tiel. He's never really warmed up to me, but he still knows step up, and has even started learning tricks with me.

    Re: taming cockatiel

thanks....the first lovie i have is not scare to play around me but wont let me touch him...he goes out of his cage and comes back because he knows the routine lol...but the other lovebird is 2 years old and was never touch by anybody and never let out of the cage...he is scare of me because be backs off...he did learn to get out of the cage because he saw my first lovie doing it, but he is still abit confuse of why he has to go out, it takes him like 20 minutes to get out of the cage lol...but after seeing me with the cockatiel he didnt jump when i show him my finger...usually he jumps and screams....i though that maybe the cockatiel though him something lol...i will try to adopt later on a hand tame lovie...to see what happends...thanks
