LOL Joey! We hope there are more, but this morning, when there wasn't the third, boy was I disappointed. Hubby reminded me to be thankful for the 2 that came! So I am tickled with three, and won't be "expecting" another come Tuesday - but will be delighted if it happens.

I didn't want to disturb the eggs - so I didn't mark them, I've just recorded the dates each were laid. I haven't check the first to see if it's fertile, I figured I will wait until she is done laying all of then, then check.

I see no purpose in marking the eggs, they will hatch the same way they were laid. Its best not to try and handle the eggs and if you do just make sure you wash your hands really good with soap.

I wish you luck on your Pastel Face Lutino! I have seen some and they are a beautiful combination. I would breed it back to a Normal grey cock split to Pastelface and Lutino.

We now have 4 eggs, the fourth came sometime after I left for work. Everyone is doing well.

And the fifth came a day late and sometime today. I was a little shocked, since when one didn't arrive yesterday, I thought she was done.

Now to wait and see if they are fertile.

Yesterday, egg #6 arrived. I am new to candling eggs, as this is our first clutch, but the other day I saw movement inside one of the eggs, was pretty neat to see. This morning that same egg - looked more like a little curved bean inside. (Hopefully that's normal)!

What a cool Valentine's Day this has turned out to be!

I wanted to show my daughter the heart beats inside of the eggs this morning, and when Reese finally got off the eggs, we were shocked to find #7 in the nest box. Then I candled each egg for my daughter, and 5 are fertile - all different stages. She got to see hearts beating, and the little beginnings of embryo's. #6 is developing the air sac and #7 was just laid, but we will assume for now they will all be fertile.

It will be interesting to see if they all hatch and then make sure they all get fed well - but for now, we are just enjoying being part of the process.

Awww congratz!!! My girl just laid her third egg this morning. I'm excited about three, imagine 7. but then again this is her first clutch so I think three would be better for her at this moment. even though i'm hoping for at least one more. =]

LOL ... at 3, I was hoping for one more and look what I got! And I am waiting to check her this morning, because she looked like there's another egg when I looked close at her tummy last night.

Re: Welcome to Our Breeding Journey! - updated 2.20.08

So this morning I wanted to check on the eggs, and Reese stayed in the box. I continued to go about my morning chores and get ready for work and Trigger joined her in the box. So I was peeking in from the side of the cage, through the hole in the nest box, and Reese lifted her cute little bird butt, and I got to watch her lay egg #9!

This was pretty cool, as I haven't seen her lay any of the others.

9 eggs. Wow. Can you imagine if they all happen to hatch and survive?

Reese is doing well. Eating lots of good healthy things to keep her in good shape.

Hopefully by the weekend the egg laying will stop and the hatching will begin!

Re: Welcome to Our Breeding Journey! - updated 2.23.08

Holy Moly! I feel like I keep posting the same update over and over and over again lol!

Egg #10 came sometime today. #8 is definitely fertile, all the others are coming along nicely (from what I can tell).

We see movement within the eggs when we candle them, and the blobs are getting bigger!

I think we should start seeing some hatch by Wednesday. And I HOPE that makes Reese stop laying.

She's eating well, looks great and seems happy. She comes and greets me when I bring her the birdie bread I bake.

When I ordered my bands - I ordered 25 thinking, oh.. we'll do 3 clutches this year (1 per pair) and that will be MORE than enough. If these all hatch - holy moly that will be nearly half! lol

Hopefully the next update we post will be that of hatching!!
