Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
You probably want to take her to the vet, she could have an ear infection. The dark brown could be a mixture of wax and blood...

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
Yes, I agree take her to the vet. In the future, a ear cleaning product that works WONDERS on stopping ear infections is Veterinarian's Best Ear Wash and Dry. My breed (shar pei) are very prone to ear infections, and my dog used to get ear infections once or twice a year. Now, using this product, no infections in 3 years!
Also, a diet change might be in order. If your dogs food has corn, wheat or soy in it, it can cause ear infections (dogs don't tolerate these ingredients very well, and it can lead to a build up of yeast in the body, esp. the ears!)

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
i work at a vet and our docs prescribe epiotic/baytril/lotimim/dexamethesone mix on some cases. but ask yur vet what they recomend since he would know the best and is the only one able to legally dispence medical advice

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
Sounds like an ear infection. My dog had the same thing. They told me to clean them out with peroxide and a cotton ball and gave me a drop to put in his ears. Definetly get her to the vet, that's very uncomfortable for them.

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
Molly's large floppy ears easily trap a lot of crud and we're continually on the look-out for infections, which she gets frequently (we use the peroxide/cotton ball/ear drop method described above).
I hope Libby will feel better soon.

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
It might be a possibility that she has ear mights (you can only see them under a microscope). Go to the vet and have them take a look and then ask your vet to show you how to properly clean out the ear.

Re: My dog has a ear wax build up???
We just treated Tipti for an ear infection. She was acting exactly the same way. For now see if you can get something to wash the ears out and keep going at them, until the vet visit.
The vet mentioned that springtime can bring allergies and encourage wax build up and infections.

I have been using a ear mite cleaner for weeks now and it didnt get any better. We did try Peroxide lastnight and it looks great today. We will use this as needed until I can get her to the vet. Thank you guys for your help!
