Thanks Kathy- Read your thread on the van trouble. Sorry you had to go through that. Looks like we both had to spend some money this week

Yes Angie-They ARE healing up nicely. They are at the "itchy" stage now.

She is a completely different dog now. I guess her aggression issues and her not playing, were all just because she was sick. She loves to play now and her and Sprocket are having a ball. It is such a joy to feed her because she gets so excited. After watching her turn food away for 5 days, it warms my heart to watch her dive in, lick it clean then look around for more. Of course I usually cave.

Thanks Thanks Thanks to everybody for your support, prayers and kind thoughts through this ordeal. You have made a very traumatic situation so much easier to bear.

    Re: Roadside Rescue

We are now on day 14 of exposure to Parvo and none of my dogs are showing signs. I am not breathing a sigh of relief just yet, but can finally, hopefully, trust that light at the end of the tunnel.

I finally changed Jax's name to Roxie. It was my neices idea. She said she is tough like Rocky (Balboa) and always fighting but Rocky was too much of a boys name, so how about Roxie. When I used the name on her, she perked up and came over, so I guess she has decided that Roxie it is.

This morning while out feeding the horses, she was tearing around like a bat out of hell and just enjoying herself so much. It is hard to believe that just a week ago, she was given what would normally be a death sentence. She was doing that "Happy Run" where for no apparent reason they just start running around, dodging imaginary foes, and screaming to a halt only to tear out in the other direction and keep going. Sprocket was doing her best to keep up, but let's face it...three inch legs do not a speed demon make.

PS..I forgot to mention, that the other day, when she yawned real big, I saw four or five blue/black spots on her tongue...so maybe there is chow in there somewhere too.

    Re: Roadside Rescue

OMG... There was a similar story in my hometown a few months back. Residents & staff at a senior housing community saw a cat running about the property with a jar stuck on its head! It took them quite a while to catch the poor thing...

Glad that you were in the right place at the right time!

    Re: Roadside Rescue

Just a quick update. Roxie is gaining weight like crazy. No more protruding back or hip bones and a nice covering of flesh over the ribs. Her neck is healed up completely and just needs to grow the hair back now. She doesn't seem to be afraid of adults, but is very wary around children, so wonder if maybe suffered some teasing or torture from some little helions. Her and Sprocket play very well together now and like Sprocket, she is a great "truck dog". Unfortunately, due to some unseasonably hot weather, they have had to stay home the last few days and look so pitiful when I grab my keys to go, and tell them to "stay". I will update with new pics soon.
Thanks again everyone, for all you support. She is definately proving to be worth the expense and effort.

That is amazing Beeks, I'm so glad you rescued that poor dog.

I was reading the tick information you posted, and I remembered a memory I had with ticks.
I can't quiet remember my age, but I know I was young. I think in Grade 4 or something. Anyway, all I can clearly remember is that I was sitting at my desk, itching the back of my neck, when I felt a hard lump. I kept itching at it, until I finally got what ever it was.
I brought it into my view, so I could see what it was. Turns out it was a tick.
As soon as I realized it, I dropped it (pure reaction). I attempted stomping on it, but found no success in killing the little bug. (Although I'm sure it didn't help I was wearing boots with many grooves on the soul.

That was my close call. I new another guy who had a similar experience, but wasn't as luck as I was. He wasn't paralyzed, but he had some side affects, of sorts.

    Re: Roadside Rescue

I have only just seen your thread as I have been away, I went from page one to three and had a shock about the parvo. That will teach me to skim.
You are an angel. Roxie is such a lucky lucky girl and as was said before, the wounds are night and day. You were both meant to come together.
