    Cool Seeds

I have found out that the brand of food i am feeding my 'tiel isn't very healthy for them... I've been told making my own food where i can control the seeds would be much healthier.
I buy all of my pet supplies from drsfosterandsmith.com, and they seem to have a good variety of seeds to choose from. What types of seeds are the best for my bird, and how much should I be giving him?
    Here is the selection:

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know what kind of seed is best, but I do know that you should try to put alot of the dehydrated fruits and veggies in, these should be a big part of their diet.

Dehydrated... Yep so they are still getting there veggies....

I like to give mine fresh veggies but alot of food comes with dehydrated fruits and veggies, read the back of the bags, I am sure you will find a few with them in it.

    Re: Seeds

I took a quick peek around my local pet store and didn't see anything with dehydrated veggies in it. The hunt begins.

If you order seed online the Volkman company is a great company to buy from www.birdseed.com or sometimes you can find it at the pet stores. It is seeds, grains and dehydrated fruits and vegetables in it. It is the one bird seed that boomer my bird has always eaten his entire life and he just loves it. I tried to get him to eat organic human grade seeds and he just dont like it as well as the Volkman seeds. He also will not eat fresh fruits or vegetables so I have always given him dehydrated which he will eat.

Other then Volkman seeds the other seed boomer likes is Merry Medlody seeds, www.organicbirdfood.com , if you get the seeds from them try out a bag of the spicer Foundation formula pellets as well, I heard cockatiels go crazy over it and I know lots of lovies who like it as well.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

    Re: Seeds

The beak apetite food has dehydrated veggies in it, that are cooked when you boil it. I bought 3 different varieties spent half an hour cooking them and my fussy tiel does not like any of them, he won't even try or touch it, but if your bird is not so fussy you could give it a try. I tasted it and most of them had a strong anise taste.
