Two more lovebirds!!
Today after getting lost for two hours finally was able to buy two more lovebirds. It was worth it. I bought a green masked male and a dilute blue female. I currently have a green peachfaced male and yellow lutino female. She is laying on 5 eggs at this time. Planning to getting a couple of lutino fishers in the fall.

Your family gets bigger and bigger! Are they cuties?I want to see them, photo quick!
How can you be so sure about their sex? They told me at the pet shop that my lovies were a couple but I ve read that only by DNA test you can be sure.
Have a nice day!

Well if they are a proven couple then the one that lays eggs is the girl!

Re: Two more lovebirds!!
there are a few ways, some people can tell by physical examination, there is DNA tests, and there is endoscopy (surgical sexing) Im not sure if you can tell by the colour the babies are in relation to the colour the parents are (if that makes sense)

Well in this particular case that is how Christian knew.
DNA testing is generally considered the easiest and most accurate.

Re: Two more lovebirds!!
Trolly had everyone fooled that did a pelvic test on him, so I'm all for DNA tests! [Everyone thought he was a girl via pelvic head and beak/face shape].
If the bird is older there are some clues you can observe like tucking behaviors, head and tail shape, and overall flock 'pecking order'.

Re: Two more lovebirds!!
The pelvic examination worked for George and Iason. Though Peachy confused everyone so we didnt know until Peachy and Iason had eggs and some were fertile.
