    Rehoming English Budgies

I breed English budgies on a very small, non-commerical scale and, because of some recent success, am facing a space challenge that I must address. How can I find a good, safe home for a few of them (chicks and young adults) that avoids any type of broad-based, unscreened listing? My birds mean the world to me and I want to ensure a good quality of life for any of them who leave my home.

    Thanks very much.

Are these birds bred for competition - to the ABS show standard? Are they closed banded? Have you kept pedigree records on their breeding? If so then I would go through the MD show club(s) to sell/rehome these birds. (You can Google and find that info on the American Budgerigar Society's web site. )

If they are only bred to pet standard you might want to get on the Yahoo bird sales list. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Birds-Breeders it's free to sign up.

The only way you can be certain your animals will be cared for is to keep them in YOUR possession. Once they leave that, it's always a gamble what their lives will end up.

Thanks so much, Kerry from Texas! You gave me just the source I'd hoped to find.

While I don't band or breed to strict standard, many of my birds could be show quality and be of interest to other breeders. You're right about the MD club; I do have some affiliation, but because I'm not show focused I've been less involved.

Thanks again for the great advice.
