    which aloe vera?

i'm thinking that sparks is itchy as she keeps trying to scratch a lot.

so i was figuring i should maybe give her an aloe vera spray as a lot of people said it reduces itching.

    thing is,

what aloe vera? i dont have the plant so can i buy it in a bottle?
and how strong do i make the mix?
how often do i use it?
can she preen after it... will ingesting it nmake her poorly?

    thanks helen

i am well sure sparks will thqank you too when she stops itching lol

    Re: which aloe vera?

Hmm, I've only ever used the stuff from my plants... Maybe anything you can find that doesn't have anything (like scents or other chemicals) added. Something natural... as for how strong, I'm not sure how strong the concentrations from a bottle is. I just use an inch or two of plant in a big spray bottle of warm water. The juice from that leaf, that is. Hope it helps a bit, and that Sparks stops itching!

do you squeeze the plant or just dump the bit of leaf and shake hard?

I cut the leaf lengthwise, and and squeeze as much out of it as I can.

Yepp, I do what sarah does! Cut it and squeeze the thing.

Although it smells funny if you get it on your fingers.

Haha, it does - I used some yesterday on my budgies, they're all molting and are pinheads at the moment.

I get George's 100% Aloe Vera at the health food store. Spray it heated.
