Re: Karma - Pic Heavy!
Hi, beautiful bird. What's her history? Where did you get her?? I've always wanted to meet one here, but I've never seen one in AK.
I have to ask- is that her cage in the background??

Dear heavens no! That is the communal play cage in the background. She has a MUCH larger cage. But she also likes to go into the other birds' cages to explore. The play cage has toys and treats in it. All the birds get along quite well.
The birds cages are always open. They can come and go as they please. The cages get closed for their own safety, or when it is sleepy time. At the moment, all of my fids are out and about, except the tiels. They have been mating, and like to stay home. They aren't to keen on coming out to play with the others.
I got Karma from a friend who is moving. She was purchased at Bird Crazy here in San Diego. She is such a love! She says 'moo', so we call her our little cowgirl.
We were at our monthly parrot society meeting this weekend, and took her and Dee Dee along. So many people were shocked that we had a female eclectus. People kept saying that they had never seen a female as a pet before. We also took her to an event at the Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas, CA on Sunday. One of the organizers had brought her male eclectus. It was great to see the two together. The owner of the male had never seen a female, in person, before.
She is my little love. Loves to cuddle. She is sitting next to me eating pasta, bell peppers, and chiles at the moment.

She has never learned that her beak can be used as a weapon. She doesn't bite, AT ALL. She will hold your finger in her beak, but usually just to help her step up on your arm. She is a bit clumsy sometimes. She will also lick water off my fingers.
She is also completely potty trained! I can have her on my shoulder for 45 minutes, and she won't poop. She gives little signals that she has to go. And she will only poop in her cage, on newspaper, or over dirt. When she is sitting on me, I watch for her signals, then take her over to her cage, she poops, then jumps right back up on my arm.
The mooing is soooooo cute! She is happy... lots of beak grinding, all the time!

She refuses to perform for the camera. Plus, Dee Dee sticks her beak into the camera lens as soon as I turn it on.
I will keep trying.
