    Re: is my bird dying

Oh my! Tommy is a really handsome tiel, for sure!! To think he is 32 years old! That is just unbelievable. I love the pics!! Thanks, Deanna for posting them for us. I know exactly how it is when it comes to posting on the threads. I'm still trying to figure it out, and two of my friends on the forum have given me the info. You sure have done an awesome job taking care of Tommy! Happy Bird-th-day, Tommy!! I wish you many, many more happy birthdays! And I'm sending a big hug to you Tricia, and my two birds, Ollie the tiel, and Muffin, the budgie, are sending wing flaps and beak kisses to Tommy!

    Hi Trica

    Tommy is awesome.
You have done very well in his care.
I did not get to see the first pic that someone posted for you.

What a grand old age he has lived to.
This makes him the oldest I know of! I did know one that was still alive at 32, but that was the last time I heard from that person.
How would you like to start a new thread. Dedicated to Tommy.
I would like to ask about his diet. And if you would be so kind as to enlighten us.

It is with a broken heart that I have to tell you Tommy died a week today. We went on holiday & our Daughter was looking after him & unfortunately he died.We are heartbroken that after 33 years we were not there with him.It is so quiet here without him talking to us.When we drive up & open the door there is no Tommy to shout out to us.Thank you all those that have followed our Tommy.
R.I.P. Dear Tommy, you gave us so much pleasure throughout your life. Love & miss you so much.xxx

I am sorry Tricia and can only barely imagine the pain you and your family are in over the loss of your loving Tommy. It is going to take a long time for you to get over the loss of losing him because he was such a huge part of your life. Almost makes you not want to come home now because he isn't there anymore... or it least that is how I felt at times.

He lived a good long life with a great family and I am sure he is now your guardian angel who is beak smiling down at you. He did truly have a great family who kept him going and happy for 33 years. That is quite a long loving life he had. My thoughts go out to you and sending you a great big cyber hug. Thank you for sharing Tommy with us here.

    Re: is my bird dying

Was reading through this post and constantly amazed at how he kept on and on I recently lost a budgie and after just less than 7 years (and his cage mete went 5 days before Christmas 2011) and it left a big hole in my heart. It must be so much worse for you having had t\ommy for so long.

    *hugs*

He is flying now over the Rainbow Bridge and will greet you to guide you like a feathered beacon of hope when your time finally comes to join him. Keep his memories alive and maybe, if and when you are ready, there will be space in your heart for a new feather baby, not to replace Tommy, but to make new memories with and share your home with.

Your bird could also be sick, or just getting so old tends to rest a lot more. You could have an avvet check him out. You and your bird have already done very good. The bird is 28 years old. Possible he has a few more years left with a vets advice and some meds.

Thank you so much for the lovely comments.A very strange things has happened since Tommy died.Every day so far,I have found a feather in my kitchen near where Tommy was kept. The kitchen has a wooden floor that is cleaned daily so there are no feathers here! Then sometime during the day a feather appears!

    Re: is my bird dying

Those feathers you are finding are there to remind you that Tommy's birdy spirit will forever be in your home and in your heart! You can put them in a special little jewelry box or other container for safe keeping, and now and then you can open up that little box and remember all of the awesome days you spent with Tommy!
