we have a little houdini on our hands! ACK!!!!

this afternoon we heard this banging noise...and noticed that one of our tiels, Merlin was lifting the door to one of the food dishes...so we kept watching him to see what he did...then Cosmo joined in...well cosmo lifted the door up and next thing we knew Merlin flys out!!!!! we couldnt believe it! we caught Merlin and put him back in the cage. then a little while later....Merlin did it again!! So again we put him back in the cage......and then guess what?!?! not long after that he did it a third time..OMG!

i am going to have to figure out a way to lock the doors so he cant open them but be able to take it off easily so i can change their food.

Quick links will do the trick here. In a pinch you can use twist ties but I find that my girls chew them to bits.

Gally doors are bad for that. Pinkies cage has them, we use the black paper clips, I just take them from work, lol.

why not use those links that are on leashes. they are easy to take off for maintenance.

hahah! that must been a suprise!!
i use travel locks on my cage doors (i used to work in homewares store that had a chuck out bucket and i picked up about 10) there all code locked too! so if i leave i can put them on code and no one can get in!!

It's kinda cute how they are so intelligent to lift the door but not cute when they escape.

The cage that I have is kind of small but I use clothes pin to pin it down, .

Mango pops his door daily. We use parrot locks and sometimes clothes pins in a pinch. He's figured out how to get those off too with enough effort.

Our lads are out of the cage all day with the front door of the cage open - well, Tommy has spent a large part of today working one of the screws loose on the catch! He was most put out when after all that work my man screwed it back in within seconds!

the funny this is that they NEVER used to even bother the doors until petrie our green cheek was over "visiting" and showed them how to open the door!! Petries a bad influence LOL!

update...i put a couple of pipe cleaners and twisted it 4 times to hold the doors shut......and merlin managed to untwist them and got out again!!!!!! OMG! LOL
