    Cockatiel breathing problems

My cockatiel sometimes breathes really heavily ( only for a sec or 2 ) when i cover him up for the night. Is this serious?

Are you sure he's not hissing?

Does he do this any other time?

The tiel is just probably a bit frightened when you cover the cage. Are you covering the whole cage?

I do think he is afraid of the cover. Does he flip out out just breaths hard? Do you have to cover the cage or does he wake you up if he is not covered.?
