not very long. cockatiels by nature are mainly seed eaters so they need a balanced diet. in the wild they rarely get access to veges and they more than likely will not associate these as being food. thus they will starve. best way is to start off with seed and then show to the bird that veges and pellets are ok to eat too. cockatiels are savoury eaters, mine will not touch fruit at all but love their veges and rice mix!!

Agree totally, they are native here subsisting on seeds mainly and need them in their diet. Most dont eat fruit bust as said will love their grains and vege mixes as part of a balanced diet. Just feed them fruit and veges and you will not have a cockatiel for long.

Fruit and veggies are only supplements to a diet for Cockatiels, as stated above they do not naturally look to them for foods, but do find nutrients in them.
A good quality seed mix forms a solid base for a diet, which personally I would supplement with pellets, safe fruits and veggies and other soft, healthy foods such as pasta, grains etc.
If you were to feed a Cockatiel only fruits and veggies, you would have a very malnourished bird. Please research as much as you can about your bird before you purchase it, it's life is in your hands after all.
