Well, I only took two classes (10 credits) this semester, and I've enrolled for 15 next, so I'll officially be a full time college student... I hope I can keep up with it all. I should though, as long as I keep on top of it all.

I've been homeschooled all my life (with the exceptions of two homeschool co-ops, and then one bout at a 'technical highschool' type thing, where I took what was considered 'half' a 'highschool day' class (veterinary assistance and grooming). So this is all so new! What's great though, is that I'm getting free college since I'm doing this program.

Keep up with studying a little though, so you don't fall behind. BUT sometimes a Semester off can really help. It may not be a maturity thing, but you could be a bit burned out. I took several courses even though I was tired and really regreted it.

ETA: Does your school offer Basket Weaving 101?

I always hated school, then i started going to college online and it changed my total attitude. I love it. I graduate early March and am so thrilled, not thrilled with looking for a job though

Only underwater basket weaving. But there are prerequisites.

Brandon, I feel you. I felt the same way after my 21 units. And then I got into a program that I ended up not liking (occupational therapy assistant) and pretty much wasted a semester on it. While I'm not thrilled with the prospect of school after these past few semesters, I inherently enjoy learning, so it's a bit easier to psyche myself up for it...

Talk about not studying!
I have finals in two weeks too!
what do I do?!
I get told I have to get a surgery...
And what does that do to me?
Make me fail a math test BEFORE the finals (It's tomorrow - I hope I do well) AND then makes me loose sleep...
IT doesn't help!!!

And what's worse? I come home exhausted! And what do I do?
Say - Oh, I'm studying! What do I actually do?! SLEEP!
*smacks head*

I'm going to fail...
Oh well - I figure I can do better next semester...

Jillybean: Woot, a helper already. I just hope Japanese is easier for me to learn than french. I figure since it's symbols, not actual letters, I won't get it mixed up with english...

just, right before your test, calm center yourself..
I'll almost guarantee you will do better. Just tell yourself this doesn't count for anything, and you won't keep telling yourself 'you can't do it'. Instead, you'll think things through, and answer what you *do* know, rather than stalling, fretting that you know nothing.

I swear, it works for me everytime for an exam I'm screwed on.. You're better to take the five minutes before hand to calm center yourself, rather than try to fit in some last minute imformation.

Good luck on everything there... surgery and exams.

I really should just lay in bed, and try...But when I do I feel like a hyperactive 5 year old, and when I get up and move, I feel exhausted. So I'm being stubborn and giving up...

hey... the best thing to do is Relax..

I can remember a while back, fretting at 3 in the morning because I couldn't sleep and I had a test the next day, and if I didn't get an A the world was gonna end, and this and this and this... and it piled on and on

Don't sweat it. You need all the 'positive' thinking you can get right now, so just put yourself in your happy place, block everything out, remember what you know and forget about what you don't, and you'll do fine.

(by the way... when you find some things you don't know on a test, don't stop.. just keep going until you find something you do know, and do it. Once you have that all out of the way, just write... write anything that comes into your head. I got some marks on a calculus test on a question I had no idea on, so I just wrote out every number they gave me, in order of size.. then I just did a bunch of random operations on it and finding random variables and handed it in.. )

If you want to get a head start, flash cards are THE way to go.

The way I learned it was to practice one "set" of phonetic characters a week (or two)...hiragana is always taught first, so focus on that.

Make flash cards for a, e, i, o, u (respectively, あ　え　い　お　う）...then when you feel confident move to ka ki ku ke ko (か　き　く　け　こ), ra ri ru re ro, ma mi mu me mo, etc. This will give you a bit of a head start.

In Sweden the fall semester ends in mid January (began in late August)! You get a Christmas break though. I'm currently writing my thesis and it is making me very sad, haha.

At least you have the benefit of living with your SO, Dan. You could put me through the wringer - I'd do 21 units and 2 jobs all over again - if it meant that I could come home to my sweetie at the end of the day instead of seeing her on weekends or whenever time allows. Augh! :P

Over here, the semesters are pretty similar. Starts late August or first week of September; ends before Christmas. I seem to recall a time when it extended beyond Christmas, but I believe I am just thinking of our winter intersession.

CA's budget cuts have forced my school to cancel their winter intersession. Very sad.
