    Gurgling stomach?

I've noticed that my dog's stomach seems be gurgling a lot. Over the past few days it's happened at least twice that when she's been laying down in front of the fire her stomach will gurgle really loudly, repeatedly.

She eats Evo grain free food (switched recently) and is free fed.

Is this anything to be worried about?

Is she pooping normal? Acting normal and hasn't gotten into anything suspicious? If the answers are that all is normal, then I wouldn't worry too much.

Honestly, I don't know. I'm at school the majority of the day, so I don't know what she does when I'm gone; mostly she just sleeps though (when I am around at least), which is normal for her.

Think you could ask your parents to just keep an eye on it while you're at school? See if they notice anything. I would say don't worry unless you see some sort of behavioral change (like grogginess, etc.) or strange poops/any other physical signs. It obviously can't hurt much except finances to do a vet check. So it kinda just depends on where you stand.

Yeah, I'll have my family keep an eye on her and see. Going to a vet is no problem, my parents see her as part of the family and if she, or any of our animals, needs to go to the vet, it's never even a question.

My 14yo dogs stomach gurgles at times, as do ours.

Okay, well, I just took her out and she was having some trouble pooping... like, "getting it all out" I guess, it was too dark to really tell but she seemed to be having trouble...

So I guess we'll be calling the vet in the morning.

If the new food wasn't gradually blended in with her usual food, she may be having problems adjusting to the new product. She also could have a sensitivity to an ingredient.(different than an allergy.) If she continues to strain when going to the bathroom, or if she seems to be more bloated or has less energy, she probably should have a vet visit.

It is a natural fact my dear... Sometimes it happens just like it happens with humans... So there is no need to worry about it....

Sounds like you have already done the right thing by keeping on eye on her. Just noticing the symptoms is the first test. Great job. It could be if the food wasn't gradually intoduced than it could be giving your dog a slight upset and gurgle. You have a good brand, but if she is allergic than you might have to switch her to a food free of allergens. Natural Balance has a line of potato and duck formula for dogs with allergies. Good luck, and lets us know how the vet goes!

    Re: Gurgling stomach?

An immediate switch from one food to another can give dogs a bit of indigestion. I remember when we switched our sheltie to grain free food (she also gets raw meat/veggies some meals), even with a gradual switch her old stomach did not like it. Now that she's used to it though, and isn't eating any grain she's doing sooo much better.

Not to discourage a vet visit, it's always a good idea- we took Abbi in to be sure all was well, they said to just watch her, and to only worry if she wasn't doing better by the end of the week. Let us know how it goes!
