    One-Eyed Dog

Just found this on craigslist, someone posted it. It's so sad that the owners would just dump him because they didn't want to pay the vet bills. At least someone found him and he was able to get a follow up for his treatment. Hopefully he will find a better owner.

I know it's horrible, just because they didn't want to pay the vet bill. So take the dog to the vet, then decide you don't want to pay for it anymore, so just dump it. disgusting. At least they are going to remove the eye for free. I just hope he gets adopted.

Sooo do I. My old dog has cost me a couple of thousand the last few months for various ailments. He just died yesterday at the vets who was trying to save him. The $700 for his treatment there since friday to try was worth every cent.

Can't imagine the mentality of dumping any animal, whole or wounded. That poor dog.

that is pure cowardice. the owners couldnt face up to leaving him at a vets or a shelter, so they just dump him.... disgusting

    Re: One-Eyed Dog

Augh, that just disgusts me. I dont know how people can do that, If they cannot pay for vet bills, then dont have a dog. My In laws are like that. They have a shelty who is about 10 years old, and she started peeing and pooing in the house, without any warrning she could not hold it in. Anyways they were just gonna take her right into the vet to get her put down, without even taking her to the vet to get a check up to see what was wrong. My SO saved her life because he got into that really bad accident and was in the hospital for five days, so they did not have the chance to take her into the vet to get but down. So if He never got hurt that dog would be dead. And guess what she stopped pooing and peeing inside the house, My guess is that she had the flu and ate something bad that made her feel like crap, anywho when my SO told me that story, although I knew it was not his fault its his parents I was like If they dont want to take her to the vet to get checked out, or cannot afford a vet bill if she is sick then they should NOT own a dog. period.

They obviously know who the owners are. They should be charged with animal cruelty and negligence at the very least. Poor pup.

Exactly. We had a cat a couple of years ago. And we went on vacation for 2 weeks, and had a close family friend watch the animals, and when we came back the cat just looked horrible. She had gotten sick and our 'friend' never told us about it. Well we took her to the vet, and almost 2,000 dollars later, she was svaed and brought home. 6 months later, she got outside and got hit by a car. But it was totally worth every dime.

And i'm sorry to hear about your dog. It's always sad when an old family dog dies. Our lab recently died of cancer. She was 11. It's still hard to think that she is gone.

Thats crazy... I have a one eyed pup and I would never get rid of him... Some people and there compassion for animals rather lack there of.....

I got into this the other day apparently animals have no souls or personalities.... *sigh* I think all people should be screened and interviewed before being allowed to have animals.

    Re: One-Eyed Dog

same thing happened to our cat, chance. she was dumped by the river because one of her eyes "died"..... she was a stray - had been out for at least 2-3 months, was near death. she found us by building a nest in the mulch in our front garden. we surrendered her to the humane society, but something told us we had to have her. our one-eyed cat has been with us for 3 years now, and she's the most precious thing ever.

    From the article:

Ifanador said the city picks up dozens of stray and abandoned animals each week. Part of the problem, she said, is owners who keep pets that they can't afford to support.
