NuWave Oven Is it safe any fumes?

    Hi
just wanted to know if anyone owns a Nuwave oven? I am considering buying one but need to know that it does not have any non stick/teflon components that could produce fumes and be a danger to my birds as I live in a small place with an open kitchen.

    Hi,

I'm not sure if it is safe for birds- as I couldn't find any information of what materials are used (Teflon-type or not?). I did find their email address for customer service questions: customerservice@nuwaveoven.net

Thank you, I have contacted them and are awaiting reply, I hope it is safe because it looks like food cooked in it is moist and tasty.

Re: NuWave Oven Is it safe any fumes?

    From their FAQ page:

    12. Does the NuWave Oven create smoke?

    * Because of the synergy created by the triple combo cooking power and because the NuWave Oven cooks foods quickly using less heat, it produces little to no smoke. Moreover, whatever smoke that does get generated is confined in the NuWave Oven.
    * Under normal household usage, no ventilation system is needed.

    13. What is the maximum temperature reached in the NuWave Oven?

    * The NuWave Oven has ten power settings; "HI" setting being the maximum.
    * On "HI" setting, the approximate temperature is 350. See power level/temperature equivalent chart.
    * Because of the Triple Combo Cooking power, the NuWave Oven will cook quickly. For example, a frozen 10 lb. turkey will cook to perfection in about 2 and 1/2 hours.

So we can assume that the kids are pretty safe from any possible smoke, as it produces very little, if any. And, with a high setting of 350, it's still 150 degrees short of producing toxic fumes from teflon if any is used in its production.

I've used a friend's nuwave and it works fairly well, reminded me of the old easy-bake oven because it uses light bulbs to heat up. Should be perfectly safe for the kids.

Re: NuWave Oven Is it safe any fumes?

Thanks so much for the info, I picked one up yesterday and paid $20 extra and got the black one with the stainless steel liner tray, the only thing that looks a bit teflon type is the heating element but I don't think they would make that in non stick material, still I will keep him out of the room with the window open as I always do when cooking. I also like watching infomercials & tv shopping but as a shopping addict I must try to stop, I already want the aerogarden and the h20mop.
