    Question Cardboard and Newspaper

    Hey guys,

I'm running low on toys at the moment and I want to use some cardboard for some shredding that I know Jambo likes to do. I also have the foraging compartment toy and I have run out of refills for it. Here is the link to it:

    http://www.24parrot.com/Creative-For...izes-P371113a/

Can I use the cardboard from toilet rolls to create my own refills? I have made some "prototypes" all i had to do was copy the other cardboard design after cutting it up to fold it. Could I use newspaper to put in there instead?

In fact I suppose my real question is, is newspaper and toilet roll cardboard poisonous? I've often given Jambo some cardboard toilet rolls but never let him chew it so much that he is ingesting it. Please help, Jambo is complaining

Toilet paper rolls/Paper towel I would not use.. mainly like Javi said, due to the glue on the outside.

Newspaper and other cardboard is made from recycled materials, so I've always used them.

Thanks very much, but do any of you know of where I can buy bird safe cardboard? I can't remember exactly what was written but apparently carpet cardboard is non-toxic? It was in a chinchilla site once I think, I'm sure there must be some companies out there that sell only recycled cardboard and brown paper bags, about that where do you buy brown paper bags? They're this big myth in the UK, nobody knows where to get brown paper bags without paying for a mass of chestnuts.

Scott brand toilet paper has pet safe rolls. I can't remember where we got that info, but Sara found it a while back. Our Petey *loves* his toilet paper tubes, they are his absolute favorite toy. Newspaper is also quite safe, the ink they use is soy based and non toxic. Corrugated cardboard I would stay away from, there is a lot of glue used on its productions and as others have said, who knows what's in that glue.

You can clip around the glue parts on some rolls, and make rings. Newspaper isn't the best to chew (unless you are 100% sure it's non-toxic ink).

Check out the toy section for good, cheap ideas!
