Re: How to make a happy hut?
Hi Tayli!
I really hope you read the links about hazards of happy huts! Most of the birds i've heard of who've had problems with them have been lovies or parrotletts- maybe something to do with their size (stitches are easier for them to pick!) and the fact that they are inquisitive, destrucitve little beggers.
Have you thought about getting a rodent chube? pretty much just hang it over a perch and let them loose. They are silly cheap, much safer than fabric, and make a great chew toy as well. Plus my bird seems to like standing on the top of his and making it roll as he tries to run on it. Too cute for words. Plus they have the added benefit of echoing- and i;ve yet to own a bird that didnt like sticking its head into things and listening to its own voice lol
Sammy's old cage- new cage now, but still hsa a chubey!
If it's for outside of the cage, and will only be used when supervised-then ok. But personally i would never, ever give one to Sammy. He's just too much of a chewer.

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!

Re: How to make a happy hut?
i have tried the tube thing and my lovies hate it they all sleep in huts but after reading i got scared would it be safe if it wasn't sewed
i used to make blankets like this and was thinking i could make huts like this too
you take felt about an inch bigger than you want the actual size to be and cut all the sides in about an inch in 1 inch sections to where it looks like fringe sorta but thicker then you put the pieces together by tying them
that way there aren't any strings to get caught on i used to make all kinds of stuff like this for my sugar gliders you can also make tons of toys like this to
