    Unhappy Tail Bobbing

My cockatiel seems to be puffed up for many days and her tail is bobbing. Her droppings are all kinda light green. She even sleeps a lot. She eats normal and drinks. What type of herb can I give her? What type of sickness does she have?

If I send her to a vet, what will they do to her? I just want to know because I never visited a vet before.

    Hey Mary,
The vet will do a physical exam for her first. Check her whole body over, look down her throat, ect. They vet may choose to to a fecal exam to see if he/she can find anything in the droppings. The vet may decide to take some blod to be sent to the lab. Once you have a diagnosis, she will be treated. If the vet thinks it's severe, he/she may decide to take action before exactly knowing what is wrong (example, antibiotics for probable infection before actual infection found). Does that make sense a bit? Also have you found a vet?

Yea. Yes, I found a veterinary. It's only 23 minutes away from me. But I'm not sure if they take in birds. I'll call them and ask tomorrow .

    Re: Tail Bobbing

Make sure they work with aviary. Not all vets do. I had to call around to many vets before I found one that sees birds. Birds illness can go very bad, very quickly. So I highly recommend you find a vet asap, as the others have already said. I do hope your bird is okay without any serious illness. Take care, and best wishes to you and your bird. Keep us posted.

Sorry for late reply. Well, we gave her some medicine and she is now feeling lot bettter. What color do the droppings have to be? Her droppings seems to be the same color. The only thing she eats in the food bowl are millits.

An all Millet diet is not healthy at all for them. Try introducing pellets, and other types of seeds. Fresh fruits and veggies are very important as well.
