    Re: mash

    haha, i tried...
    shiro flung it...

but i miss the finches cause they ate anything

all i did was mix some of the junk i got from goldenfeast (theyre better than laf. you ask for what you want, and you get it. ANYTHING on their site you can get) with baby food, and some mashed peas and corn and some millet.

shiro ran away and didnt go near it. but the finch tore it up

ask alexis ( ttlol or whatever...you should know who im talking about. if not, shes the only one in my friends) she did this for roxxi at first, dunno bout cisco though

    Re: mash

I use potatoes, cooked, peeled and mashed. Crushed red pepper. 1 Nutri-berry per bowl, Green beans, corn, peas(basically everything in their veggie mix), peppers, some pellets, golden feast, and Beak appetite.
And they love it! Just mix it all together, and there you go. Simple and they eat it.

I also do, oatmeal, some seed, pellets, about half a jar of baby food(any type they like, preferably organic), and some veggies and fruits, oh and cinnamon. And they loved that.

    Re: mash

really? black pepper? wow i have never given that. but i love giving cinamon or cayenne pepper. i think i am gonna make a shopping list and hit the grocery store in the morning to start cooking. i also saw how to make plump corn. basically ya get some dried deer corn and soak it for a few hours and then put it in a crock pot till 3-4 times the size.

    Re: mash

just a teeny bit of pepper.
good thing about my recipie is it's yummy! that's why the millet/safflower is added last.
i eat my portion with chops or roast chicken. it's really good and freezes well

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!

    Re: mash

ok so i have a recipe made from a few recipes i have found. i am gonna go get the ingredients today and start it tonight and finish it in the morning.
a bag of 15 bean soup
    cup instant cooked brown rice
    cup instant cooked wild rice
    cup plumped corn
    cooked veggie pasta
    two cups mixed frozen veggies
    two cooked mashed sweet potatoes
    shredded carrots
    cooked unflavored oatmeal
    plus whatever else can find
i am not sure if this is a mash diet or a bean veggie mix diet. i know this will yield a lot or food. so i am gonna be using a lot of zip lock baggies and freezing week portions

That sounds really good, Javi!! I may actually make it soon. Once I'm out of Beak Appetite.

    Re: mash

well mine get beak appetil and i still have another two weeks left of it so i will be mixing that in too.
it is gonna be quite a bit of work since the beans and corn need to be soaked over nite and then cooked for a couple of hours in the morning. but it will last at least a month or so. i will also be taking portions to my friend so she can get rigsby used to it and so she can try with her birds. hope it works out

    Re: mash

Yeah. I'll buy more. Cisco would be very mad at me if I ran out and couldn't give him any more.

I hate how long beans take! They take hours and hours. Man. I get so mad.

I hope it does too! Hopefully my mom will be going out so I can tell her to pick up the things.

    Re: mash

I tried to make mash once and my guys looked at it like I was trying to poison them. I think I'll have to try a small batch of Helen's recipe ...
