adding new flock members into a existing flock?

Can this be done. I've read a few websites saying that once you have an established flock that its impossible to add in new members without the others atttacking the new birds? I have four lovies right now and a budgie (surprisingly he gets along with them- they let him preen them and he gives them food- the way loving budgies do)

I'm moving into a 5 bedroom place and get to turn one room into an open flight avary. I'm taking in quite a few budgies soon from someone who can no longer keep them and would love to have them all in the room. Can I do this or is it just asking for trouble? Lovies are bigger than budgies so I dont want them to hurt the budgies or kill them.

I think i read some posts where this has been done, but i dont think there is any way of knowing what would happen.

Suppose the best bet would be to leave the new members in cages and let them get used to one anouther where they cant fight, and just introduce them slowy. There may be trouble when it comes to nest building.

if its a BIG avairy and you really want to have lovebirds and budgies then i would put up a fence in the middle to seperate the lovebirds and the budiges

its a huge room- It was 2 rooms that has the wall taken down and they previous owners were using it as a kids toy room- theres a pool table in there too. I was actually thinking about just dividing it- I dont wanna go in one day and find a budgie minus a leg or worse :|

lovebirds are too aggresive to be kept with other birds. Lovebirds will even attack birds much larger then themselves. but certain species are less agressive then others. what species are the lovebirds?

Dutch blues and peach faces.. They have a "Love budgie" in thier flock right now and they dont bug him. Both my females let him feed them- preen them and sleep with them. There hasnt been a fight yet- I thought they would but nothing.

They like him. But I think I will seperate them- I just dont want a female budgie to get nesty and mean towards a lovie or vice versa- and have a fight break out between them

Peachies are suppost to be the more agressive species of lovies but mine seem pretty laid back.
