    Re: bath fun lol

I think that they do that to get the underside of thier wings wet. The parts that would be like there arm pits if they had arms that is.

I went to school in a junior high that had an actual zoo in it. MOnkeys, birds, snakes, lizards, rodents and the like (sadly no elephants lol )

but we used to give the birds baths with misters or in the school zoo sinks. They would always open thier wings out wide and turn so we could spray up and under them, then thy'd flap about and enjoy the bath.

Bird'O my budgie takes baths in our sink and she'll hold out her wings and then rub herself on my hand as I'm holding her there and try to get her belly and under her wings wet by flapping them into the puddle in my hand.

Maybe Zazu is doing this? I cant wait to watch my lovies take a bath, birdy baths are the cutest things ever

cute watching and reading about birds taking baths are cute, Sounds like your correct, she opens her wings and paddles about and then lowers her body to get her "armpits" wet but never the top of the feather

your school sounded fun, in my primary school all we had was goats, sheep and ducks we more like a farm lol

    loveys bathing

When is it a good time for a lovey to have a bath. Should I wait until the weather is warmer? such as close to summer?

    Re: loveys bathing - PICS

My lovey loves water and likes to take baths in my cupped hands. It's cute. THe tiels don't love water as much and I just always leave them a pie plate with water to explore as they wish. Got a couple neat pics of two birds in a pie plate:

    new

Hmm, that's new to me too! My lovebirds and cockatiel always put their wings up when I put them in my sink, but I always thought that was because they were trying to fly away... My cockatiel, Vanilla (who just layed eggs recently, so I don't do much with her right now) is scared of practically everything, so she did try to fly away when I gave her her first bath... I don't really bathe them often, but I'm starting to do it weekly or so, or try misting to make it easier on me and them.

    Re: new

I made a little birdbath fountain for Tweety....she'll take a bath every other day if I put it out for her...it's funny watching her, she'll stick her butt right out over the spraying water..lol

she actually seems to prefer the water be cool....if I put warm water in it she won't take a bath.
