So, I was told that my 2 Yellowface Blue Budgies would never give me visual Yellowface Blue babies because they would be double factor Yellowface Blue, making them look like normal Blues. Well, surprise, surprise! This last clutch wielded 3 visual Yellowface Blues!!
Gotta love genetic mysteries! I thought that the yellow faced gene was kind of an unknown. Very pretty babies! Pretty creamino! I actually can't pick a favorite, they are all so pretty!

Re: Babies
very pretty
the way i understand when you pair 2 yellow faces is you will get some yellow face, some normals and some of the ones that look like white faces
I thought putting 2 yellow faces together that would be what all the babies would be as well..... but when my pair of Yellow face violets Had their one and only baby He's not a yellow face at all - I paired him to a yellow face and only one of their babies are yellow face
They are adorable I love Creaminos , in the 2nd pic the one closest to the camera looks to be a violet?
also what are they sitting in? that looks so comfy
Briana....I just saw your ad on Hoobly and had to come here and see if you had posted here too! Do you think the Spangle is a boy? Gosh, I am so tempted.

Well, last we spoke about it, I was under the impression that when you combined 2 Yellowface Blue birds, you get babies that are double factor Yellowface Blue (that visually look like normal blue). So I guess YF Blue is not as fully understood as you thought? I know that they are still trying to find out how it relates to normal Blue and its mode of inheritance.
Unfortunately, none of the babies are Violet this time. They are actually Mauve, which sort of looks Violet in the pictures.
The thing they are sitting on is a baby bumper, or something to that extent that I bought at a bird sale. It's for keeping babies in one place...but it doesn't really work.
Wow ALL are very very pretty! I love budgies! Also, hope this isn't too off subject, what is the job title of the people that try to figurate out the genteics and the inheritence of birds? I would love to look into it!

There are pics around here somewhere..well, they are the Budgies in my siggie. Mom is a Yellowface type 2 cobalt Opaline Spangle Violet and dad is a Yellowface type 2 cobalt Opaline Recessive Pied. The last baby they had looked like a normal Cobalt Blue Opaline Violet (split to Pied). These guys all have beautiful yellow faces! They are now all 6 weeks old and weaning wonderfully. They are such sweet little birds! I have updated pics here on my website: http://barefootaviary.tripod.com/id10.html
