    Question cockatiel breathing heavily

    hi,
I have a female lutino cockatiel. Of late she has started breathing with her mouth and sort of panting during afternoon . It is actually too hot here (40 degree celsius) n she does this during afternoon and early evening. She breathes normally during the morning and night . we dont have an ac but the fan is there for her. Also she is active during morning but sleeps a lot during afternoon. I have also noticed that her nares become pink after exertion for some time. Is it normal. do u think she has some respiratory problem. she has no nasal discharge or tail bobbing. she is about 90 grams.
Please advice as i am keeping a cockatiel for the first time.

    I don't know what 40 Degrees C is in F.

but if it is hot, Give her several Showers through out the day with a water bottle (clean never been used with chemicals) just use the highest setting on the nozzle to make it a mist, I mist mine by aiming it towards the cieling and letting the water fall down on them like rain

or if she'll take a bath in a dish offer them with clean cool water several times a day

Don't have a fan blowing directly on her ever (wet or dry) but if it oscillates towards her its OK (when she's not wet)

if she holds her wings out away from her body - that is another sign of a bird being over heated

What's the humidity like with you? Maybe a dehumidifier would help.
