    easiest words to say

what are some easy words for a parrot to say?

my lovebird learned how to say "yup" (as in a way to say yes) and i was surprised because it hadnt even occured to me to teach her to talk because lovies arent really known for talking. but now that she learned a word on her own i am thinking what else can i teach her ? so what words would be easy?

I suspect that my lovebird is secretly a mad scientist.

    Re: easiest words to say

When I was reading about this before getting my Baboo all the books I read said birds say "B's" and "P's" the best as well as "Oooh" sounds. Which is exactly how I came up with the name Baboo. With hopes she would learn it someday. Wel, she whistles it, so that's a start.

Off topic, but someone I chat with on-line had told me a few days back that Babo, or Baboo means stupid in Korean....prolly wouldn't have named her that if I knew ahead of time. She is the complete opposite of that!

    Re: easiest words to say

words with more then one syllable seem to be the easiest - not sure why but everything i've read said that, and things with "K" rather its the letter or sound like "kiss" "Come here" Etc,

    My Quaker says

Peek A Boo (and he emphasis the K (screams it lol)
    Come here
    Billy(his name)
    Come here Billy
    Whatcha Doing
    Good Stuff
    Night-Night
    Bye-bye
    Hello
What(he drags it out because usually when he says it is when me and my b/f are in 2 different rooms (or me and my kids) and hollering back to each other lol so when he says it he says it more like " Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat" )

he'll also out of the blue just start saying "Phylis" not sure who she is but I am assuming it was his previous owners mom LOL since i'm only his 2nd owner

he also will say "Love you" out of the blue - he made up a song one day while on his tree stand and sand and danced and his song was "love you, I love you" over and over then he'd throw in that "Phylis" name again - it was cute - he was singing/ dancing to his shadow

I know he says more but i can't remember all of it off the top of my head

my other Quaker only says Step up but she has been practicing on Come here

    Re: easiest words to say

I'm a little freaked out by talking birds, actually.
I like little whistles and beebs though, makes me melt when Pepper tries to copy my whistle when I'm not in the room
Both of my Partner's budgies talk, they say loads of things and seem to learn from each other.
They both call to each other "Hello Chippy/Sparky" and that is really cute!

    Re: easiest words to say

I have a list of what our Grey says. But his newest ones are "Aww Nubs" and Bow chick a wow wow. He sometimes makes up his own words, putting a few words or phrases together to make a new one. When we are leaving or when he wants someones to leave he will say or yell BYE

How bizarre! In this house now all you have to say is Www and they are jumping like a couple of loonie tunes. But we use Walkies as well then they are ready to go.

    Re: easiest words to say

I never used the step up command, always say 'come here' so that was the first thing Milo picked up. He also says 'good morning' when I uncover him everyday, watcha doin, hey bird bird, and I love you.

I also say come here and where ever I point to she goes. So if I say come here and tap my finger she will go to what Im pointing at. If I want her on my hand I say come on baby.

    Re: easiest words to say

Cosmo can say a whole bunch of words/phrases, but the very first one she ever learned, and it is still her favorite today, is peekaboo. Any time we go out she will say peekaboo over and over, and when she meets new people, that is the first word (and often the only word) she'll say.

Kaylaur's favorites seem to be Hello and Kaylaur.

I've heard that many birds learn peekaboo as a first word. That one seems to be popular.
Mary, Cosmo, Kaylaur, Perry & Tyler, and Spaz (temporary foster). And we can't forget the furry kids Pepper & Chewy!
