Adorable. Did the breeder sell you an unweaned bird, though?

Re: Emma- my Green Quaker parrot

Regardless of that fact, a reputable breeder will not sell an unweaned baby. It's irresponsible of them, unless you happened to be a good friend or something...it's just not something good breeders do. No offense to you at all.

Anyway, try weaning her onto as much as you can. Veggies, fruits, beans, etc. It makes life so much easier (and healthier). And more pics, we like pics

my breeder will sell partly weaned babies to experineced hand rearers. And he's FANTASTIC and highly recommended in the Lovie community over here (although i didnt learn that until aftger i met him). Maybe its a geographical thing like the clipped vs not clipped debate?

I agree with the veggies as soon as possible.
She is such a sweet little gonk! i cant get over that tiny stumpy little tail. She's adorable. Congrats x

Is she DNA tested or is it obvious with Quakers? i dont know much about them at all

looks like she's loving her scritches.

Is she an only bird or an addition to your flock?

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!

I honestly think it is, and I also think it's quite species specific here too.
I think it's frowned on to sell unweaned 'big' parrots, but the smaller species are often sold before weaning to people who show some understanding.
I personally couldn't do it myself, but I also wouldn't frown on someone for opting for that choice.
Quakers are so adorable, they have to be one of the cutest birds around, even if their flock call is mega loud!
