Arrow Panda, who to pair him with?

This is similar to the lovie post, but I am very curious as to what to pair him with. He is a partial blackface/dark grey opaline/spangle pied with very little colour.

I didn't know there was such a thing as partial blackface....what do you mean by that?

If you insist on breeding find something pedigreed.

Mom to Ducky! (female cinnamon GCC)...THANK YOU Keet for the gorgeous sig!!
Won't you come see me after 12am?

Oh, he's not old enough to breed yet, I just had a burning curiosity to know what he would be a good mate for. I don't know what you mean by "pedigreed' unless you mean pure Australian, which, coincidentally, he is.

She means pedigreed as in actually knowing his genetic background, not just breeding because you find him pretty.

This is a pedigree. It's a dog pedigree, but the same thing as a birds would be. It's a family tree. You get genetic background like health, color and most importantly, family lines.

It's very, very important to have them as it means responsible breeding is possible. You can look back at colors and health and say which two birds would be a good match, for example. That's one of the many, many uses of a pedigree.

I don't know what a "partial blackface" is .. but look at all the other mutations on this bird

    blue series - recessive
    grey - dominant
    possible dark factor - dominant
    opaline - sex linked
    spangle - dominant
pied -- you didn't say if it was recessive or dominant

That is a lot going on for one bird

What is a partial blackface? Any chance you could post a picture of him, I would *love* to see what he looks like..

I know, but they're just what I think he has. recessive pied I'm pretty sure - hardly any colour.

I have posted a pic of him somewhere on the budgie forum somewhere...under "what mutation is this", I think? See if that helps, Jen. it's a pretty crap photo, but it shows a good angle.

Yeah I saw that thread before..any chance you could get a more recent pic, I have never heard of partial blackface so am really interested to see what it looks like.
As to what to pair him with, you could pair him with another grey Rec. Pied, then you'd get all Recessive pieds and greys, and all girls will be Opaline too..just a thought, I reckon the babies would be very beautiful either way.

thanks And also, for the pedigreed thing, It is impossible to find a bird that you know all its history. That pedigree is great, even though I know what they look like, but they don't know the history of the parents, so they had top start somewhere too, right?
