Thanks. The first ones actually their least favourite, lol. None of ours seem to care for beads at all, but they're all loving the seagrass. Here's tonight's creation:

I am going to have to get me some seagrass, that looks right up my two's alley. At present, they are destroying some 1$ wicker baskets I got at the craft store....

Very nice! Where do you get seagrass from? I've never seen it in any stores...

Re: My Toy Thread :D
We got it from a craft shop. Apparently people normally use it for making seats for chairs.

I'll try looking for it again next time I'm out.

The seagrass is at the back in this pic, but I suppose it'll be sold differently in different places:

Re: My Toy Thread :D
All yours toys are lovely, really natural looking and earthy.
I'm going to have to get some seagrass, too, looks really fun

Re: My Toy Thread :D
Good job, sure any bird would love them.

Here's my newest one. This one's a foraging toy too. I'll be push nutriberries into the shredded paper before I give it to them:

I know my toys aren't really that colourful, but I'm really enjoying making them. The budgies have pretty much chewed all the seagrass off the third toy I made, so I've made them another like the second toy, but with longer frayed bits of seagrass to attack. I'm going to tie this one to the bars of the cage, instead of having it as a foot toy. =)

WOw THey al look very nice. I like natural looking toys. It makes me feel like they're safer lol. I know its not always he case but most of the time natural is beter.

They look fine to me and the birds like them, that's what really matters.

Re: My Toy Thread :D
My birds would go crazy with those toys! I just worry that the materials wouldn't be natural. Michael's doesn't seem like the kind of store that would sell natural seagrass and whatnot.

Most of my things came from a chinchilla toys website. The seagrass came from a small side street craft shop (the only one in the city, lol) and you can tell nothings happened to it, because if you smell it it just smells of grass.

I am pretty sure this question has been asked in a previous thread, but I'm gonna ask again cause I don't remember the answer.
Will any loofah work, or does it have to be from a health-food store or natural place, or something?

I've been wondering the same thing for a while, and have been tempted to just buy a huge loofah a few times at the supermarket!
Having looked around the net a bit, I think it is best to buy the natural, untreated loofah as then it can be digested by your bird, if it has been treated I think there is a danger due to the chemicals.
I would buy some of the natural, untreated if you wanted to use any

Re: My Toy Thread :D
Watch where you get your things. If they are sealed in plastic, if not sealed in plastic does the store spray for bugs, is it around other smelly things. If it is a white, more than likely it has been processed.
To be on the safe side, I always clean everything first and do a apple cider vinegar rinse.

Yeah, the loufah is natural - it's not actually white, more kind of a creamy colour. The advantage of going to smaller craft shops (rather than chains) is that people know more about what they're selling and can tell you about it - like the one we got the seagrass from. The easiest way to tell if somethings been treated is to smell it - I probably look silly going around shopping for my birds, lol. Most of my toy making things have come from this website. They do ship internationally, but I don't know what it would cost for you.

Re: My Toy Thread :D
I have ordered from many other sites that sell for rats, mice, rabbits, chinchilla, monkeys, zoo's and so on, not just from bird sites. Have even found sometimes in the pet stores they will have the same thing in the small animal section that they have in the bird section and it is cheaper, same thing, go figure.

Here's a new one:

I trusted my bf to take a picture of this one, which was a mistake, since he took it from the back, lol. On the other side, the dangly bits are shorter. It starts with a few beads and one piece of shredder, and works around to seven on the longest piece. This one I gave to the budgies. =)

Re: My Toy Thread :D
Think the picture is fine and the toy is great. Got so lucky birds at your house.
