I saw the title and I was like please no....I am so so sorry to hear about Stitch.

You must be heartbroken. I wish I knew how to make you feel better. At least you know he had a good time with you while it lasted.

You did a great job with such a special little bird, he was so loved and I know that he loved you so much too

Be strong, he was a very lucky, happy little bird and you allowed him to have the best possible life.

My deepest condolences on an unexpected loss. I feel terrible that this happened.

My mom found one of my cockatiels hanging by his neck from a rubber toy (looks like long strands of shredded cheese) many years ago and luckily she was home to have heard the screaming. We called the manufacturer about it and of course to this day, the toys are still being sold. I hope you have better luck with them than we did.

*Grr*...I hate the mass producers of bird toys that when complained to, don't give a rats' *** about the birds' well being. I think I have already posted here, but again I am so sorry about poor Stitch. I know how it feels finding a beloved pet bird in the morning.

oh i always avoid this section. too sad. i am so sorry about stitch. he was a very gorgeous little man. i think i know the perch ya are talking about. i use them with no issues but now ya have me worried. i am really sorry. and i hope that the company listens to ya

I have not written to the company, and don't think I will. I don't think it was the perches fault. A "normal" bird with good strong feet would be fine with the perch. I think the perch is a good product actually, just not for Stitch, wish I had realized that. It was an unfortunate accident. I do not want to accuse a company of being at fault, when I am not entirely sure it was the product alone, Stitch's toenail was caught in a hole, but most birds would have been able to move their toe/foot. I was angry and shocked at Stitch's death, and lashing out at the perch.

Oh God, I'm so sorry ... how awful and traumatic for you to find little Stitch like that ...

It's so scary ... I mean, what do we have to do, duct-tape them to a perch to keep them safe? Once I came home and Benny had a bell stuck on his beak ...

My heart is about in my mouth now ... there but for the grace of God go I (we)... But we just can't, and little Stitch had a great happy life with you. I agree with Helen, he's with Sparks and all the little TF angels now.

I think I know the perches you mean. I would never have anticipated that, not even with a handicapped bird.

I'm so sorry Lori Ann.

This is not news I like reading. Stitch was such a cutie. I heard from a Vet once of a Cockatiel getting a seed hull stuck in his nare and having a heart attack from it, so Stitch may have had a heart attack. Whatever the case, it's not your fault and you can't remove everything from a cage in case something may happen. I'm sure Stitch knew you loved him.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. It was obvious how much you loved Stitch. Don't beat yourself up over it, it was not your fault. Stitch knows he was loved.

Thank everyone. It is really hard.....Sully mimics Stitch though so we have reminders of him. He was such a sweet, lovable fid.

Lori Ann, I am so sorry to hear about Stich. He was such a little sweety. I know how you feel and how hard it must be but please try not to think about his last night. It will drive you crazy. Instead think about all the happy times, about the simles he put on your face. Once again I am so sorry and we're all here to support you.
