    New Temporary Member

Well this guy sold me a couch and gave me this budgie with it. I just got him about 30 mins ago... still shaken up from a hour ride in a U-Haul, but hasn't said a word yet. Hasn't moved around his cage much, but this thing is tiny. I gotta get a bigger one for him. This is going to my girlfriend for her birthday present (she's been hinting that she wants a parakeet.)

She lied about the cage size... 16" x 12" my posterior. Maybe 12" x 10" at best. I moved him into my would be SLEEP CAGE for my conure, 24" x 16" x 16" roughly. Wasn't happy to be handled, but I wouldn't be either at this point.

EDIT: I meant sleep cage, not flight cage! lol...

very good for ya offering him a new home. i would say that cage sounds a little small for a conure but pretty good for a budgie. i meant the 24x16

did you know you were going to get the bird with the couch? if you did, then good for you for taking him in. I hope the guy that sold you the couch didn't just dump him on you. That would be extremely irresponsible pet ownership. Although I'm sure he will be much happier with you or your girlfriend as his owner.

    Re: New Temporary Member

Actually, the bird was the reason I bought the couch. I was gonna go see the couch yesterday, but my grandfather's trailer's tail lights weren't working, so I called and said I couldn't. Then they called me back and said they'd deliver it for $50. I told the woman I just didn't have much more than the couch plus the delivery, but I would like to give her parakeet a good home, blah blah blah, so if she would include it with the couch I would buy it.

Well, she lied about the cage size (as i said above), and that she would include a wooden stand for it. She didn't give me the stand.

So the budgie hasn't even chirped yet, but he does make some clicking type noises like he's cracking seeds open, but he's not anywhere close to the millet or his dish. He'll fluff up with me standing there talking to him, I just think it's going to take some time.

I just got off the phone with my girl, I think i'll have it a little longer than planned because of our work schedules... but it'll give me time to try to tame it. Do y'all think once I get it tame she can continue fairly easily?
