    Exclamation Budgie's Wing is Bleeding!!!

She acts fine, singing and playing with her toys, but there's a little blood oozing out from her left wing. I called the vet but he's already out of the office today. I will call him first thing tomorrow morning, but what should I do in the meantime?
Could it be the other bird in the cage with her? They normally get along really well...

It sounds like a broken blood feather. Have a look at her wing and see ig you can find the feather it's coming from. If it's only a small hole, then cornflour may be able to clot the blood and stop it bleeding, or if that doesn't work, you'll have to pull the feather out. There's also the possibility it's coming from where a feather has been pulled out, in which case putting cornflour on it should stop the bleeding.

It's probably a broken blood feather. Throw some flour or cornstarch on it to see if that will stop the bleeding. Check out some of the threads about blood feathers and see if that's what it is. If you can't stop the bleeding and you can't pull the blood feather yourself, you need to get to a vet ASAP to have it pulled.

Hello? Is your budgie OK? A blood feather breaking is quite serious. If it's bleeding too much then take out the feather, even though that sounds bad it will stop the bleeding.

Yep stop it with flour. Even if it stops and seems fine it is worth going to a vet for a check. It is good to remove them anyway. A new feather will grow back and if you dont remove the broken one then it is more likely to start bleeding again - and you don't want this to happen while you are out for a while!

I think if you can get it to stop bleeding now by yourself then get a vet to pull it out tomorrow.
