My lovie has been plucking her feathers....

What should I do? Since his husband died, she became jealous with the budgies... cause they were many.... When I put the lovie with the budgies she just pecks them to death. What should Ido? I don't have enough money to buy a new lovie....

I'm not sure because I dont have that problem, but just put her favorite toys in the cage to try to keep her entertained and put the radio on, thats the best thing I can think of. If the problem gets worse go to the vet though.

ok, if you live near a petsmart, you can buy things called birdie passifiers(dummys) which they chew on. its meant to take the chewing off the feathers and to the toy....if that doesnt work then you could always try introducing many new toys for her. she will be so overwhlmed by all the fun, that she will hopefully forget to pluck, and begin to play, and also rotate her toys around the cage, so that she doesnt get bored. hope it goes ok xxxx

The majority of the time, plucking is due to parasites.

Have the avain vet test her for them. If she does not have mites, then procede to behavioural resoning.

Yez, let us know how it's going, and don't put the lovebird in with the budgies! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek! That's a disatser waiting to happen. When you say that the lovebird pecks the budgies to death, I hope you are exaggerating. If not, then by now I am sure they have been separated. Lovebirds cannot share a cage with budgies.

Be prepared to spend some time working with your vet on this one... after medical reasons are ruled out, then it's time to move onto behavioral problems.

Sometimes bathing with water helps... but some birds don't like to get wet.
