    Question surprise babies

My husband and I built an avairy about 4 months ago and filled it with Zebra and double-bar finches, 2 diamond doves and a pair of silver king quails. We had been keeping an eye out and didn't think anyone was breeding yet,

Imagine our surprise when we found a fully feathered, fledgeling double bar finch in the water bowl. fortunately it is ok and was rescued before it could drown. on further investigation, we found 2 more baby finches (zebra), 3 finch eggs and our quails sitting on 6 eggs as well.

just curious about what food to provide for the babies. They are in an outdoor avairy with a gravel floor. There is plenty of green feed (sprouted bird seed) growing as well as the finch seed for the adults and obviously they have managed so far, but should we provide anything else?

    thanks

Perhaps set some millet spray within their reach. Sounds like your are giving them the right food, you just need to make sure they can get to it as they fledge. Perhaps someone with finches will give you a better answer soon.

You pretty much got the rabbits of the bird world. They breed really easily, and it's sometimes more difficult to get them to stop than it is to get them to start.

Best of luck, and get some pics for us!!
