    Talking Another drawing attempt...

I haven't touched my drawing tablet in almost a year...

I am going to try a few drawing styles and see how it goes..

But in the mean time, to get me warmed up, I'm working on this:
(there's a few thinsg I need to fix IE: larger neck and fix the outline/large legs)

    Whatcha'll think?

    i think it's lovely.
and the neck looks fine to me,... maybe smooth out the join to the body, but i dont know if i would go bigger. I might be tempted to add a little light to his etes... dunno

I used to love deviant. Years since i been active tho! Was never as good as you either!

    Hey Lauren!

    That's an amazing drawing O.o Like - wow...Just amazing!

May I ask what tablet you use? I'm interested in them and I don't really know what to look for or what to get. Are they pretty easy to get the hang of? Is it similar to sketching on paper, or totally different?

Sorry for the questions, but I'm curious If I could create something half as good as yours then I'd be one happy camper!
    Thanks~

    There.

I use a medium sized Bamboo Wacom tablet!!

    It is so awesome!

There's 3 or 4 different sizes, small, medium, large and HUGE
I would recommend going right in the middle with Medium. Small is too small and the large and XL ones are too big for beginners.

You have a digital pen with a soft plastic tip for drawing/writing and when you flip the pen over it erases like a pencil.

It's very similar to drawing on a pad of paper, just a bit more condensed.

I have a few on there that are from when I first got the tablet. It's tough to find out what technique to use and how to get the shading perfect...

If you do get one, it does come with Photoshop!!!!!!!!!!!! And when/if you start using it to draw, remember this: LAYERS ARE YOUR FRIEND.

The foal has about 12 so far!

    Re: Another drawing attempt...

I realized that the screens don't show the displays (Well the Cintiq (sp?) ones do, but those are PRICEY! And I'm just a beginner )... Is it easy to learn where your drawing without looking at the pad and just focusing on the computer screen?

My dad is a computer nut so he said he'd pitch in another 100$ (for christmas) for the Intuos3 or Intuos4 of sorts because he said the pressure sensitivity will make a difference. And I think he would like to play around with the tablet as well

But still, the screen thing seems a little troublesome... Did it take long to get used to it?

    Thanks for the input!

    There.

    Re: Another drawing attempt...

We have a Bamboo too, although I think we just have a small one. I really only use it for photo editing and design stuff, rather than drawing so I don't find the small size a problem. It's pretty easy to get used to. You can either have it scrolling, like a mouse, or have it so the screen and pad "align" so the bottom left corner of the pad = the bottom left corner of the screen. Pressure sensitivity is definitely helpful, although it takes a bit of getting used to. It's not really that different to using a mouse - you don't watch the mouse as you move it across the desk, you watch the pointer. But it does give you a good bit more control. =)

It's a great start Lauren, I'd love to see the finished foal, but I'm not going to critic, lol. =)
