Lightbulb Why is my cockatiel so small ??

Hey everyone who is reading (:

I think this is in the right section feel free to let me know if you think it should be changed.

My cockatiel Ashh, who I have a had for about 7/8 months is very tiny compared to my other two. I recently got a new baby tiel who is about 8 weeks old now who is tiny as well (both her parents are tiny too) but compared to Ashh she is big. I do not think he has grown at all.

This may be because of different mutions I am not sure, it's just weird and if you have read my other posts about Ashh he also has a slight bent tail and in his right foot he is not as strong.

I think Ashh may be a special bird. If you have any ideas please let me know. I am taking him to the vet Wednesday for a check up so we shall see.

    Cheers (:

Sere is half the size of Nym and weighs 75gr... Nym is HUGE and weighs 100gr. so different birds are different sizes just like us!

Yes, like Sam says, cockatiels can vary in size. I have a cinnamon hen that weighs nearly 160 grams. But, most of my tiels weigh between 110-130 grams.
Do you know wieghts? If she comes from small parents, then she is likely to be quite small too.

    Wow! 160!

My Beaker looked so much bigger than Luna when I got her. She weighs 100g. Luna was about 73g when I got her and seemed so teeny! The vet said it was a low weight but nothing to be concerned with. She's grown and has some great flying muscles now and is 93g.

Like the others have said, it just depends on the bird. Whether they are big fliers or not can make a difference too because of the muscle they build up.

    Sorry I can top that!
There is a Pearl at the rescue who topped out at 169grams and sertiels had one heavyer again.
She gave a very good example of why, these big birds could lose and gain weight.
I had the rescue one at home for a while and she shed over 40grams in that time.
    Here is the thread.
    http://talkcockatiels.com/showthread...ighlight=fatty

Roxy is what I call slim and comes in at 89g.
Tinkerbell is also 89g but a bit bigger in the body.
Henry, hum not sure exactly but I think he was 105g.
And my lost Tweety went up to 127g, before I got her down to 114g. She was another bigger bodied Teil.
I think Monica has or had some smaller Tiels, which I seem to think she said one was 79g, do not quote me, as it was awhile ago.
So yes Tiels come in all sizes, and as long as they are healthy I would not stress to much.
