Throwing Food

When I come home, my budgie has always taken his food and thrown it on the ground, beneath the grate, so he had no food. What should I do to control this, because then he gets very hungry?

I recently saw a new design of bird dish that would prevent all our beloved little twerps from doing that. It was at the TASC fair at the Kane County Fairgrounds the weekend before Memorial Day & I'll have to see if I can find the vendor info on it when I get home. I know it's no consolation but my blue Quaker, Baby, does that even if he has several bowls in his cage with stuff he likes.
