Love the variety, Peter. I often wonder how the geese keep track of so many goslings. And to top it off, you got my little buddy.. Chipmunk. Some reason I have a fascination for them.

    So your a Chicken Hawk!

    Thank you Dick...
I don't know that they do actually fully keep track of them...that same day I saw one gosling leave the group it was with and join another...

As soon as I saw the title, I KNEW it was gonna be the black swans.

Great pics of all ('specially the little duckling with it's momma). Was that duckling an "only" chick? Or were it's siblings somewhere else?

BTW, each year you bring us fantastic pics of babies. Just curious, do the black swans never breed? Or have I missed some pics in the past?
Mary, Cosmo, Kaylaur, Perry & Tyler, and Spaz (temporary foster). And we can't forget the furry kids Pepper & Chewy!

    Thank you so much Mary...
Nope...it wasn't "an only chick"...just the way those pics happened...there were two others...
You haven't missed any pics...I've seen the Black Swans on a nest in two different spots, the past two seasons but I have not seen cygnets from them...I am assuming they have been on eggs, but for whatever reason, nothing seems to come of them...

All the babies are just so cute and for shame on the one little one going from his group to the other group! I never would have thought a bird would do that. I love the chipmunk also, they are such crazed little things that they always make me smile.

I really like how all the mommies and babies hang out together in a group! They don't do that up here very often.

    Great pics!

    Loved the pics! Thanks.

We have black swans over here??!? WOW!

Look at how those little geese have grown. They were tiny feather balls not too long ago. Beautiful pics.

Maybe he was just going home after being on a wander...

    Great pics!
I don't think it's them so much hanging out in a group, as it is one huge clutch with a couple of last years babies all grown up still hanging around...just a guess on my part...

    Re: Nature in pictures...

Swans are always so elegant & classy no matter what they're doing - they're like the Jaguar or Benz of water fowl. But the little fuzzies like the ducklings & goslings do take the cake. Having seen how the baby tiels go from fuzz to feathers is as amazing as having seen the wild fuzzies going to feathers also.

I live near a small lake (one resident called it a waste water lagoon) which is part of the park district I work for & there are always ducks & geese as well as the wading & marsh birds. I have a couple of ducks in summer & alot more in autumn & winter that'll stop under the bird feeder in my front garden to eat whatever the squirrels have spilt by hanging from the bird feeder.

i do have a soft spot fo the chippies too - we live in a one story house & have a low deck off the kitched door. I try to put some peanuts out there for the chippis & squirrels tho the squirrels will actually sit on the brick ridge outside the kitchen window & beg for peanuts.

We've also watched them raid the bird cages when it's been nice enough to put the cages outside with the everyone in them. The chippies are not appreciated by my flock.

Sorry, Peter, should have said it earlier the photos are really good I just wish that my birds would pose like that for me.

And your pix just keep getting better & better. Seriously, if you're not a professional photographer you should consider doing it as a side job until it starts paying off.

I also noticed there were alot of birds in these pix who were watching you closely with one eye even if it was half open.

Thank you for the kind words Sandra, but the pic taking is done solely for the pleasure of it and being able to spend time around the birds...
Oh, they do watch me...and they are also watching other people that are in the park...too many of whom have no idea how to act around the birds...
