    Shower Perch?

Does anyone have only a shower stall, not a bathtub? If so, how do you take your bird in with you? Usually you're supposed to slowly move the bird towards the spray but in a shower stall?! Or do you just let the bird into the bathroom and leave it at that?

    Re: Shower Perch?

I have 2 little stands with suction cups. I put one in the corner and one near the water so they can decide if they want to get totally wet or mited. They get misted from the shower. I only have a shower, not a bath tub. Chiquita usually likes to get totally wet, while Boomer usually likes to sit on the other stand and just get misted.

    Hmmm...

How large is your shower, Courtney? Because I've seen stalls that are pretty large. Mine is tiny; if I stretch out my elbows I hit the walls (the other way I hit the curtain and a wall). There is a corner where the water doesn't fall much so I suppose I could use that as a 'misty' corner...

    Re: Shower Perch?

My shower is pretty small so that is why I have two perched. One for them to get misted and one right in the water. You could put it in the corner where the water doesn't fall as much, they like to get misted that way. And you could put one right in the water. When Chiquita goes to the one right in the water I just move over.

    Re: Shower Perch?

Yes, I use the medium happy perch, for Karma, my big fat cow of an eclectus! (Eclectus females are very heavy for their size)

    http://www.happy-perch.com/happyperchflyer.html

    We have the Medium one.

It works for everybody except Petey (parrotlet), and Sid (special needs tiel). It is too big around for their small feet to perch in the shower.

Oh, and our shower is tiled with 1.5 inch tiles, and the happy perch works perfectly. We also have a rigid shower perch, but the suction cups are huge, and won't stick to the smaller tiles.

    Re: Shower Perch?

I use a suction pvc perch, but I haven't used it lately because the perch part has loosened and is prone to falling off now...startling my bird. I am Loving those "happy perches" though, I think I will have to invest in one, or maybe a few.

My bird does not like the full shower spray at all, but likes to sit on the perch in the shower when I am in there and just get the mist.

Is the medium happy perch okay for a GCC then?

Yes. Dee Dee & Des can both perch on it just fine. And Des is a small GCC.
