Re: Dogs and birds?
I have a large breed dog, and im of the same mind of better safe than sorry. She is a lovely well behaved dog that wouldnt harm a fly, BUT shes huge, clumsy and loves other animals of all descriptions! It would be too easy for her to acidentally hurt one of my birds, i did try having her and the parrotlet out together but i wasnt comfortable with it in the end, it seems to be when the birds take flight that even the most well trained dogs can get a kick in of their prey drive...or just get excited and want to play! But i'd never forgive myself if she killed a bird.
she and the birds love having a natter through the bars though! they actually come down to see her but shes learnt not to get too close or they try and peck her nose!!

Re: Dogs and birds?
Are you asking for advice or just letting us know how you deal with owning both a bird and a dog?? Sorry, it's unclear to me.

So my question is; what are other people's experiences with birds and dogs?

Re: Dogs and birds?
Look up his breed on the comp. Some dogs are breed for hunting. We have a dog named Happy. He is a bird hunter. He already killed quit a few birds, including my budgie named lemony.
