Problem with Posting with Chat

probably a stupid question, but how can i post in the chat thing? i just cant figure it out lol

uh.... windows vista. thats all i know and no my camera is in being fixed so i have no way to take pix...

Do you have a print screen button on your computer? Mine's abbreviated Prnt Scrn on my keyboard.

You shouldn't need a camera to take a picture of the screen using print screen (Don't feel bad, it took me ages to realize it as well)

If you do, use that, use paint save the screenie, upload it to a image hoster...

And do you know which version of IE? The current one? (which is 8 I believe), or 7, or 6? I know work still uses 5.


If you don't know, press the alt button and while holding that down, hit h. That'll bring up the Help tab if there's no file view taskbar
The bottom option should be About...choose that. I don't think it'll be really helpful but I'm getting curious to see if there's a trend or if maybe there's something you need to install first before it'll work.

Can you see the chat room? But you just can't post in it?

Does it just continuously say "Loading?"

I had a chat screen, with no way to post. Never said loading, nor anything other than Dan's test messages. That is with Firefox & Chrome (most up to date versions of both.)

I did the Ctl + f5 that Dan suggested, and now I no longer have any chat section. Again, both Firefox & Chrome.

There has to be a reason though why some people can see it and some can't.

Ok, here is what I see. I have tried it on Firefox and chrome with refresh and no window shows up to type in.



I can try Safari too...

I also don't see anywhere to type in a message for chat. I'm using the latest Firefox and Windows 7. Below is a screenshot of what I see.

It looks like you guys have a little loading button thing where the chat bar should be. (I think?)

I can see it and I just uploaded in it and I'm using firefox latest version.

Hmm Iam really not sure about this one. When I was reading the first few posts I figured it might be a usergroup issue -- ie all registered users or supporters etc don't have the permission to chat -- but it seems to be such a random mix.

have you all checked your settings to make sure that you can receive chat?? because there appears to be some new settings there...

Indeed - under General Settings, make sure that "Yes" is selected for the show chat option.
This doesn't explain those who can see it but not send messages, though.

All my settings are set to allow, but there is no specific setting for chat.

Like I said before, I had a chat window, with no option for typing nor submitting. I did the Ctl f5 that Dan suggested, and the chat disappeared. It also didn't fix any of the box/overlapping issues. Seems to have just caused more.

I can view the chat box on that page, but there is no area to type. It is just the "Empty the chat input field" button.

looks same in the full page. still missing a box to type in... just the round arrows refresh thingy at the bottom...

Try disabling it in your settings, then reenabling it?

My General Settings page doesn't have a "show chat" option. Unless I'm totally not seeing it. General Settings has the part with allow vcard download, private messaging options, etc. right?
