Pink Bourke

I might have the chance to bring home a young pink bourke & I was wondering if anyone has one and if there are any major pros or cons I should be aware of. From most of what I've seen, they're supposed to be fairly quiet docile birds (watch me, I'll get the only hellion ever born as a bourke).

Anyone?

Bourkes are GREAT little birds. They are quite and non aggressive, great to mix with most finches.

Are you getting a Rosey bourk or a Pink/Fusca bourk?

I LOVE the true Pink Bourks (Fusca). When I had the space some years (many) ago they were running $500 each. Had the space, not the cash.

One thing to keep in mind is setting up the cage properly. They don't climb about like a budgie or 'tiel might but rather hop or flit from perch to perch. You'd probably do better with a cage that is longer horizontally than tall (think a ranch-style house vs. a skyscraper). Make sure there are clear pathways, if you will, from perch to perch.

I'm rather fond of Bourke's parakeets. I'd LOVE to get a normal (wild-type) male one day
