    Hello everyone.

I'm new here. I came across this site in my search for a suitable cage yesterday so I thought I'd check it out.

    Re: Hello everyone.

I'm sorry I don't have any tiel cage dimensions - I have 4 tiels in an 18 deep x 2'6" wide x 3'11" tall (cage bottom to top). I do have an open cage policy in the house unless someone has been particularly naughty & is chasing one specific bird down. Usually it is the other inhabitants - Quakes & gccs who have restricted access.

    Re: Hello everyone.

The so-called minimum is 18 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches. for a tiel... but I would go a lot larger than that, as the "minimum" is always way too small. If the new baby will get a lot of out of cage time you can go something smaller, but if it won't I would suggest something like... 'http://www.birdscomfort.com/flight_bird_cage.html so it can still exercise.

    Welcome to TF

    Re: Hello everyone.

Hi! I'm new here too. I had tiels for 30+ years. My advice would be to get a cage larger than the minimum, and as large as you can afford/accommodate within reason. Also, do make sure the bars of the cage are close enough together so that the tiel cannot put her head through the bars and possibly strangle. Large-parrot cages like that are unsuitable.

By the way, hello to all - I currently have 4 doves - a rehabilitated Mourning Dove that cannot fly, a white Ringnecked Dove that's at least 15 years old, and a pair of Diamond Doves. The Mourning and Ringnecked are uncaged, the Diamonds are caged.
