    Exclamation Sick bird

Several months ago, I found my cockatiel stumbling around on the bottom of his cage. He incessantly chirped and jerked back and forth. I tried keeping him warm and really thought that he would not make it through the night. The next morning, he was on his perch acting fine.

He has appeared normal since then, until today. He is repeating the behavior of several months ago. He has attempted to climb up the side of the cage, but can only get partway up. What could this be?

I live in a rural area and no vet around here treats birds.

I'm sorry your bird is sick again My first reaction to your post is perhaps he is having seizures which I hate to say we have had a few tiels here that had them. I would call some of the vets offices in your area to see if perhaps they could consult with a avian vet so they could treat your bird. Or sometimes pet stores can recommend a vet that does birds that is somewhat close to you. I live in the mountains and had to drive a hour one way just to take my bird to the vets but he needed to see the vet so it was worth it to me.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

I thought of seizures too; although I don't understand why he constantly chirps throughout the day and night. I will call my vet tomorrow and see if she can consult an avian vet. Thanks for your help.

With seizures your bird will need vet care soon as you can get your bird there. It is scary and sad to watch a bird having a seizure. It passes very quickly, but is sure scary to watch it happening. It is also very serious.
