They are both so beautiful Maya. I love Mika's foofiness but love Raptor too! He could almost disappear against the grass like a Cheshire cat.

Hehehe. Well, we have this weather GENERALLY year round. We do have "rainy season" usually in October/November and sometimes trickles into December... other than that, it's usually sunny with trade winds!

I love how in the one pic Raptor looks like he's carrying the McD's bag. It made me giggle.

Those are some beautiful birds! Do you clip their wings so they don't fly off while they're outside or are they fully flighted? Caribou is fully flighted and she's so attached that she'll probably never fly off if I take her outside (I actually took her to the post office with me the other day but she spent the majority of the journey in my purse with her head poking out), but I still got her a harness because I'm so paranoid. I love Raptor too! What kind of bird is he? His skritch pose is adorable!

Mika has a partial clip and Raptor has a full clip. Raptor, a Meyer's parrot (Poicephalus family), has to have a full clip because he's extremely vicious towards other birds (and would bite me if given the opportunity). We can't risk the safety of any of the other birds that are in our home. When we get a bigger house, we may reassess having his flights grow out somewhat. As long as we can ensure the safety of the rest of the flock! Hehe.
Mika is extremely bonded to me but, trust me, he has no say in whether he flies off or not if he were fully flighted. Lovebirds are so light that the right gust of wind can literally take them away. Even with Mika's partial clip, I don't bring him out unless the wind is calm. Once I feel the wind get a little stronger, back in the travel cage he goes. One time, he was on my shoulder and a gust of wind pushed him right off my shoulder and took him halfway across a field. I was lucky he is partially clipped and the wind pushed him more downward so I was able to get him in the grass.

Mika is gorgeous as ever and the picture of Raptor scritching his neck is my favorite of all.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

They are adorable! Great pic's, I would be careful letting them chew on the grass in a park they usually use a lot of fertilizers in parks. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing.

Thats so scary about Mika! I just got my harness and its huge for Caribou but she's only 7 or so weeks old so I'm hoping she'll grow into it. I never gave the wind much thought but when you have a small bird I guess you have to!

Thanks! Mika only "beaks" grass though... I actually never have to worry about him chewing ANYTHING. Unless it's his food, he has no interest in chewing anything but the occasional piece of paper or, rarely, a finger trap. I guess it's lucky for me... I can trust him 100% by himself out of his cage. I gotta admit I'm so glad I don't have birds that chew cords, remotes, cell phones, etc!
