My "Drug" Dog
Check her out... she's hilarious!
(this is the description under the video)
Tiny yorkie mix/mutt successfully searches out and finds "drugs" hidden in houseplant. The "drugs" are actually nothing but peppermint tea leaves. Notice how she checks, but does not play with the tennis balls on the floor. These balls are identical to the one that she gets at the end as a reward. The reward ball, however, has been sitting for a few weeks WITH the peppermint scent, and she only ever gets to play with that specific ball after she has "found" the scent.
I trained her to do this in less than an hour. She is a very willing working dog-- too bad she isn't larger. She will jump up on furniture to sniff shelves, and climb all over objects and into them trying to find the scent. This is Nutmeg, and she is 2yo.
I believe in the big bang theory. God spoke and BANG! it happened.

She's so adorkable I love her fur. She's really smart, that was a great vid. Good idea on the training, too

Lol, she's one of those dogs that seems "born to work". I've been toying with the idea of teaching her to sniff out ground nutmeg... LOL... "Nutmeg the dog finds nutmeg".

Re: My "Drug" Dog
I sorry - I saw it and thought it was adorable but never got around to posting. Maybe it's a little puppy envy since we can't have a dog where we're living now (though I think the 15 birds might just make up for that a little).
If we could have a dog I can guarantee my youngest son would be on you doorstep wanting to "borrow" Nutmeg permanently. He keeps eyeing Yorkies in our local PetsPlus store and making puppy eyes at me.

Re: My "Drug" Dog
Nutmeg has a lot of energy. Yorkies do. They have a nice expression on their face which helps to get people to like them.
